Bhubaneswar hosts World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Meet

The World Athletics Continental Tour Silver Meet took place at Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, featuring approximately 200 athletes from 27 nations. This event marks a significant upgrade for the meet, which was previously a bronze-level competition.

In the javelin throw, Rohit Yadav achieved a historic milestone by recording a throw of 87.68m. This performance makes him the second-best Indian javelin thrower of all time, trailing only Neeraj Chopra. Despite facing a slippery track and a knee injury during the competition, Yadav's throw ranks him fourth globally for the current season.

In sprinting, South Africa’s Tshepo Jason Tyantini was named the fastest male athlete after winning the 100m race with a time of 10.11 seconds. India’s Abinaya Rajarajan emerged as the fastest female athlete, securing the women’s 100m title with a time of 11.34 seconds. Other notable participants included long jumper Murali Sreeshankar and shot putter Chukwuebuka Enekwechi from Nigeria.
