Bhubaneswar on high alert for 80th Independence Day celebrations
Bhubaneswar has been placed on high alert for the 80th Independence Day celebrations, with state-level functions scheduled at Gandhi Marg. Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi is set to hoist the national flag, lead the ceremonial parade, and address the public. The event will feature approximately 50 contingents, including security forces from Odisha and Chhattisgarh.
Security measures have been significantly increased across the capital. Authorities have deployed anti-drone and anti-terror squads, utilized CCTV monitoring, and positioned armed personnel in watchtowers. Access to the parade ground is restricted to pass holders, and security checks including metal detectors are in place. Surveillance has also been extended to the airport, railway station, bus depots, and local hotels.
In official messages, Chief Minister Majhi and Deputy Chief Ministers KV Singh Deo and Pravati Parida paid tribute to the freedom fighters and martyrs of India. The leaders called for unity and collective effort toward the goals of building a prosperous Odisha and a developed India.
