Bhubaneswar police arrest two men for separate criminal offenses

Police in Bhubaneswar have arrested two men in connection with distinct criminal investigations.

Dipti Ranjan Sahoo, a potato trader, was apprehended by Chandrasekharpur police for allegedly blackmailing a minor girl. Sahoo is accused of obtaining obscene images and videos of the minor and demanding money under the threat of making the content viral on social media. Upon his arrest, police seized mobile phones which reportedly contained similar obscene material of several other girls. An investigation is underway to identify further victims.

In a separate incident, a 55-year-old man was arrested by the Mahila Police for allegedly marrying and abusing four different women while concealing the existence of his first wife. The arrest followed a complaint from his fourth wife, who discovered the deception after becoming pregnant. The accused is alleged to have physically assaulted and confined his first wife and minor daughter, and subjected his wives to various forms of abuse. Investigations into his history of bigamy and domestic violence are ongoing.
