Bhubaneswar police intensify security for festive season

The Bhubaneswar Commissionerate Police has announced an enhanced security strategy for the upcoming festive season. To protect major puja pandals, authorities plan to increase patrolling and deploy plainclothes officers to monitor for suspicious activities and prevent crimes such as chain-snatching.

As part of the plan, puja committees have been instructed to install CCTV cameras at their locations. Police will also circulate photographs of habitual offenders to assist personnel in identification. Additionally, law enforcement will monitor for the unauthorized or forced collection of donations during the festivities.

Separately, Odisha Police leadership has urged the government to prioritize filling staff vacancies at the State Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (S4C). The center currently lacks sanctioned staff and relies on personnel borrowed from the CID-Crime Branch, a situation officials describe as unsustainable for continuous operations.
