Bhubaneswar police investigate AI-generated blackmail and sexual exploitation cases

Police in Bhubaneswar have launched investigations into two separate incidents involving the exploitation of women.

In one case, a 14-year-old schoolgirl was allegedly blackmailed using AI-generated obscene photographs. The suspect, identified as Shubham Mahapatra, reportedly used the manipulated images to extort gold ornaments worth approximately Rs 6 lakh from the minor. The victim had reportedly handed over several gold rings and earrings to the accused to prevent social embarrassment. Police have registered a case following a complaint from the girl's family.

In a separate matter, the Bhubaneswar Mahila Police arrested a former security guard in Kataka for alleged sexual exploitation. The victim reported that the man entered into a physical relationship with her under the false pretext of marriage, a relationship that lasted nearly two years. After the accused attempted to sever ties when pressured to marry, the victim filed a formal complaint. The suspect has been forwarded to a local court and sent to judicial custody.
