Bhubaneswar schoolgirl found dead after disappearing from school grounds

A young girl attending a government school in the Acharya Vihar area of Bhubaneswar went missing during school hours. She was last seen after leaving the school gate around the midday break. A search by police and volunteers was launched, and later that evening locals spotted her body floating in a water tank/pond behind the Police Reserve Ground near Kalinga Stadium. The child was retrieved and taken to Capital Hospital, where doctors pronounced her dead.

The girl's family filed a complaint alleging negligence by school authorities and security staff, demanding a thorough investigation and strict action. Police have begun reviewing CCTV footage and investigating lapses in school security.

The incident has sparked public outcry over safety measures at schools in Odisha.
