Bhubaneswar to develop parking and park under Rajmahal flyover

The Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) is set to transform the vacant space beneath the 562-metre-long Rajmahal flyover into an organized parking facility and public area. The project, which follows a completed tender process worth Rs 1.53 crore, aims to alleviate parking shortages between AG Square and Kalpana Square.

In addition to structured parking, the redevelopment will include ornamental landscaping, trees, and public seating to improve the area's visual appeal. The initiative seeks to address long-standing issues regarding the neglected underpass, which has previously been used for waste dumping and has faced safety concerns due to unsupervised gatherings.

According to BDA Executive Engineer Himanshu Jena, work is expected to begin shortly. Officials anticipate the project will improve cleanliness, safety, and traffic flow near major commercial hubs such as the Unit-1 and Unit-2 markets.
