Bhumi Pednekkar Cast as Warrior Queen Mallamma in Historical Film on Chhatrapati Shivaji

Bollywood actress Bhumi Pednekkar has been announced as the lead playing Belawadi Mallamma, the Karnataka warrior queen, in the upcoming two‑part historical film "The Pride of Bharat: Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj." The movie, directed and produced by Sandeep Singh, chronicles the life and legacy of the Maratha ruler Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. The screenplay is written by Rishi Virmani, with music composed by Amit Trivedi and lyrics by Prasoon Joshi.

The project assembles an international action team, including Mark Henson (known for "Game of Thrones" and "Vikings"), Vlad Rimburg ("The Fate of the Furious", "Bloodshot"), and Craig Macrae ("Troy: Fall of a City"). Pednekkar will appear alongside actors Rishab Shetty, Arjun Rampal and Vivek Oberoi. The film was announced on July 20, and Pednekkar, a fan of the film "Kantara," said she was honored to bring the fearless queen to the screen.
