Bhutan King offers condolences and support to Assam flood victims

King Jigme Khesar Namgyel Wangchuck of Bhutan has issued a letter of condolence to Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma following devastating floods in the Indian state. The King expressed sympathy for those who lost their homes and families, stating, “The people of Bhutan join me in conveying our heartfelt condolences to Your Excellency and the people of Assam.”

In his message, the King noted that the increasing frequency and severity of such regional disasters serve as a “stark reminder of our shared vulnerability to the consequences of a changing global climate.” He emphasized the necessity of collective action to confront these environmental challenges in the future.

King Wangchuck also commended Chief Minister Sarma for his leadership during the crisis and assured the state of Bhutan’s full solidarity and support as Assam works toward recovery and rebuilding efforts.
