Bhutan media organizations launch initiatives for democracy and literacy

The Bhutan Centre for Media and Democracy (BCMD) has issued a call for expressions of interest for video production consultants to create a documentary-style video. The project, titled ‘Building Inclusive Democracy: Civil Society, Parliamentarians, Media, and Youth Strengthen Good Governance in Bhutan’, is implemented by DW Akademie in partnership with BCMD and funded by the European Union. The video aims to demonstrate how civil society, parliament, and media collaboration strengthens governance in the country.

Separately, the Bhutan Media Foundation (BMF) and YUMRA, supported by the Department of Media, Creative Industry and Intellectual Property and the Bhutan InfoComm and Media Authority, have announced a Youth Reel Making Competition. Celebrating Global Media and Information Literacy Week 2026, the competition invites students to create 60-second reels on topics such as misinformation, AI, and deepfakes to promote media literacy.
