Bhutan to host second Bathing Carnival in Pema Gatshel
The second edition of the Bathing Carnival Bhutan (BCB) is scheduled to take place from November 6–8, 2026, in Telung, Nganglam, within the Pema Gatshel district. Organized by the Department of Tourism in collaboration with the Pema Gatshel Dzongkhag Administration, the event is designed to honor the 108 Project under the Gelephu Mindfulness City (GMC) Royal initiative.
Under the theme ‘Celebrating the Joy of Water,’ the festival draws inspiration from the traditional Thruebab, or Blessed Rainy Day. This cultural practice emphasizes the spiritual and physical significance of water as a symbol of life, renewal, and purification. The carnival aims to blend community traditions, culture, sports, and water-based activities with the natural landscapes of Telung.
Following the 2026 event, the Bathing Carnival Bhutan is set to become an annual tradition, held every year from November 1–3 starting in 2027.
