BI-REX drives digital transformation for Italian SMEs

BI-REX, an Italian Competence Center, has demonstrated significant impact in driving digital transformation through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR). According to research promoted by the Ministry of Enterprises and Made in Italy, the center has provided nearly 1,500 services to businesses over a period of two years.

Approximately 80% of the beneficiaries were small or micro-enterprises. The center’s influence is highlighted by a ‘spark effect,’ where 22% of participating companies reported that their innovation processes would not have commenced without BI-REX’s support.

Through a ‘Test-before-Invest’ model, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) are able to experiment with advanced technologies—including artificial intelligence, robotics, and supercomputing—in a risk-free industrial environment before committing to full-scale investments.
