Biała pedestrian infrastructure modernization on DW 702
Pedestrian infrastructure is being modernized along provincial road No. 702 in Biała, Zgierz County. The first phase of the project, which began in July, involved replacing 600 meters of sidewalk on Zgierska Street. This initial stage, costing 500,000 PLN, improved access for residents and people with disabilities near local shops and residential areas. A bridge in the area was excluded from this phase and is slated for a separate modernization project.
A second phase is currently underway to construct an additional 400-meter section of sidewalk extending past Leśna Street. This stage is budgeted at over 294,000 PLN and is expected to be completed by November. Both phases are funded by the Łódź Voivodeship budget.
These local improvements are part of a broader regional initiative to enhance pedestrian safety. The Łódź Voivodeship has allocated over 40 million PLN for provincial road modernization through 2026, covering more than 47 km of routes. Additionally, large-scale investments in 16 locations, totaling over 490 million PLN and supported by the European Funds for Łódzkie 2021–2027 program, are scheduled for completion by 2030.
