Biache-Saint-Vaast: Father and daughter found dead in suspected infanticide and suicide

A 52-year-old man and his 9-year-old daughter were found dead in their home in Biache-Saint-Vaast, Pas-de-Calais, on Monday, August 10, 2026.

The mother discovered the house was locked from the inside upon returning from work and alerted emergency services. Responders found both individuals deceased by hanging around 7:00 p.m. Investigators are currently treating the case as a suspected infanticide followed by suicide, noting that the father had a history of depression and previous suicide attempts.

The Arras research brigade and the criminal investigation unit of the Pas-de-Calais gendarmerie are leading the inquiry.
