Bialystok cyclists log over 74,500 km in national bike cup competition

More than 300 participants representing Bialystok rode a total of 74,566.29 kilometres in the June‑long contest for the Capital of Poland Bicycle Cup. The city ranked 26th nationwide for active cyclists, 29th for total kilometres, and 5th among Polish cities with populations over 200,000.

The local competition honoured top performers: Wioleta Zachar led women with 1,772.63 km, while Michał Danowski topped men with 3,054.65 km. Awards included diplomas, cycling gear sets and cash vouchers. Schools and preschools were also recognised; the best school recorded 7,708.52 km, and the leading preschool logged 3,054.65 km, each receiving a monetary prize.

A special prize—a bicycle—was awarded by lottery to a chosen participant, highlighting the event’s emphasis on promoting cycling as everyday transport.
