Bianca Acosta wins gold in 4x400m relay for Dominican Republic

Sprinter Bianca Acosta won a gold medal in the women’s 4x400 meters relay at the Central American and Caribbean Games in Santo Domingo. Acosta competed alongside teammates Anabel Medina, Milagros Durán, and Estrella De Aza, with the quartet finishing the race in 3:28.48.

Originally from Río San Juan, Acosta emigrated to Spain as a child and initially competed for the Spanish national team. In 2023, she made the decision to represent the Dominican Republic to fulfill her desire to compete for her country of birth. Acosta noted that while she feels half-Spanish due to her upbringing, representing her home island was a long-held dream.
