Biancoforno plant faces labor disputes in Fornacette
The Biancoforno confectionery plant in Fornacette, near Pisa, is facing significant labor tensions involving over 200 employees. The dispute centers on working conditions, the use of cooperatives, and contract outsourcing. A recent strike saw a low participation rate of 8.5%, with the company noting that the majority of workers present at the gates distanced themselves from the demonstration.
In response to the conflict, Democratic Party deputy Emiliano Fossi has submitted an inquiry to the Ministry of Labor. He requested that the National Labor Inspectorate verify compliance with regulations regarding working hours, contracts, and union prerogatives. Fossi has called for the establishment of a formal negotiation table involving the company, trade unions, the Tuscany Region, and local authorities to prevent further escalation and protect production continuity.
Biancoforno management has invited political institutions to an ‘open doors tour’ to inspect the production facility and verify facts directly. The company expressed a willingness to participate in dialogue facilitated by the Mayor of Calcinaia.
