Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival honors Leonardo Padura and Eduardo Carrasco

The 35th edition of the Biarritz Amérique Latine Festival has commenced in Biarritz, France. This year, the festival is presenting the ‘Abrazo de Honor’ to two prominent Latin American cultural figures: Cuban writer Leonardo Padura and Chilean musician Eduardo Carrasco, a founding member of the folk group Quilapayún.

Padura, known for his Mario Conde detective series and works such as ‘El hombre que amaba a los perros’, is recognized for a career deeply connected to Cuban history and society. Carrasco is being honored for his role in the ‘Nueva Canción’ movement, which is closely linked to the political and social history of Chile.

The festival, which runs until October 2, serves as a cultural bridge between Europe and Latin America. The program includes film competitions in fiction, documentary, and short film categories, alongside musical performances, debates, and exhibitions.
