Biathlete Suvi Minkkinen Prepares for Next Season with High‑Altitude Training
Finnish biathlete Suvi Minkkinen, 31, capped a breakthrough 2023‑24 season with a World Cup opening‑race win, an Olympic bronze and several podiums in the overall World Cup. After a brief rest in Finland, she began a high‑altitude training block in Bessans, France, continuing into September. The plan includes a three‑week stint at the Anterselva training centre in Italy, pending repairs to the venue’s shooting range, followed by a competition in Munich on 17‑18 October. Coach Mikko Viitanen says the training load has been intensified to raise fitness and technical standards. Minkkinen will return to Finland for the season start in Kontiolahti in late November and aims to improve on her results at the World Championships in Otepää, Estonia, in February.
