Białystok opens tenth municipal nursery with renewable energy features

Białystok has opened its tenth municipal nursery at ul. Absolwentów 6, providing approximately 144 to 150 places across six departments. The facility was constructed using modular technology and is designed to be entirely free of architectural barriers. Each department features a spacious room with direct access to a playground, as well as separate cloakrooms and dining areas to minimize transit through common corridors.

The project cost approximately 18 million PLN, with over 10.1 million PLN sourced from the ‘Aktywny Maluch 2022-2029’ program and additional funding from renewable energy initiatives. To reduce long-term operational costs, the building utilizes solar panels, energy storage, and heat pumps.

A notable security feature of the facility is an underground shelter designed to accommodate up to 150 people. The nursery is open to families from Białystok as well as neighboring municipalities, bringing the city's total municipal nursery capacity to 1,409 places.
