Białystok police respond to suspicious package on railway tanker
A suspicious foil package attached to a diesel fuel tanker triggered a security response and temporary evacuations in Białystok on Wednesday. The object was discovered by Railway Protection Guard (SOK) officers on a railway siding.
Police cordoned off the area, causing traffic disruptions on Składowa, Kopernika, and Hetmańska streets, which serve as access points to the Fieldorff 'Nil' tunnel. As a precaution, employees at a nearby Orlen petrol station were evacuated.
Pyrotechnic specialists could only inspect the package after the remaining 32 tankers in the consist were towed away. By approximately 3:00 PM, experts determined the package did not contain dangerous materials and posed no threat. Traffic in the affected areas was gradually restored.
