Białystok’s Saline Towers Face Bacterial Risks Amid City Health Survey
Local officials in Białystok have raised health concerns after microbiological tests identified fecal bacteria and fungi in the mist emitted by the city’s saline inhalation towers. Councilor Henryk Dębowski issued an urgent interpellation to Mayor Tadeusz Truskolaski, demanding immediate testing of the installations on Pieczurki and Fredry streets.
At the same time, the city is participating in the “Index of Healthy Cities” project led by the Warsaw School of Economics. An anonymous survey, open until 10 August 2026, will gather residents’ views on Białystok’s health‑related services and infrastructure, complementing statistical data to assess the municipality’s strengths and weaknesses.
