Biblioteca Maldotti expands into Palazzo Fracassi in Guastalla

The historic Biblioteca Maldotti in Guastalla is expanding its operations into the adjacent Palazzo Fracassi. The official inauguration of the new spaces is scheduled for September 12, 2026, at 5:00 PM.

This expansion is the result of a partnership between the Municipality of Guastalla and the Fondazione Maldotti. The move aims to address logistical challenges and provide necessary space for an increasing volume of donations, a new conference hall, and dedicated areas for school workshops.

Palazzo Fracassi, which has served various public functions including an orphanage and local police headquarters, has undergone significant maintenance and restoration following a four-year closure. These works included facade restoration and the upgrading of systems and infrastructure. Library director Ivan Cantoni noted that the expansion is essential to overcome the limitations of current historical areas and to accommodate new collections that preserve collective memory.
