Biblioteca Popular Barrios del Sur marks 19 years of community service

The Biblioteca Popular Barrios del Sur in Goya, Argentina, is celebrating 19 years of continuous operation as a vital educational and social hub. Founded by Mirta Fernández on what was once a vacant lot, the institution has evolved into a center for pedagogical support, connectivity, and essential services for residents living far from the urban center.

In addition to promoting reading habits, the library provides internet access, photocopying services, and assistance with administrative procedures. Despite facing the suspension of national subsidies, the institution continues its ad honorem work to support children, students, and families in the neighborhood.
