Bich Dam fishing village maintains unique lifestyle near Nha Trang

Bich Dam, a fishing village located approximately 15 km from Nha Trang in the Hon Tre island cluster, maintains a lifestyle distinct from the modern resorts of the mainland. The community, consisting of over 200 households primarily engaged in fishing and aquaculture, has historically faced significant utility limitations, including electricity availability restricted to only four hours per day, typically from 17:00 to 21:00.

Due to the lack of consistent electricity, residents do not use refrigerators. Seafood is either consumed or sold within the same day, while surplus is dried or shared among neighbors. Despite these challenges, the area is noted for its natural beauty, including jade-colored waters, green hills, and a lighthouse dating back to the late 19th century. In early 2025, the region was approved to become a green and sustainable community tourism destination.
