Bicistaffetta 2026 to travel from Lucca to Rome

The 22nd edition of Bicistaffetta is scheduled to take place from September 28 to October 5, 2026. Organized by FIAB (Federazione Italiana Ambiente e Bicicletta), the event will see participants travel 460 km from Lucca to Piazza San Pietro in Rome along the EuroVelo 5 route, also known as the Via Romea Francigena.

This edition features support from Coldiretti through the Fondazione Terranostra. Following a previous segment from Como to Lucca in 2025, this journey serves as a collective exploration to promote Italian cycle tourism. The initiative acts as a mobile laboratory for institutional dialogue, allowing representatives to meet with local mayors and administrators to discuss cycling infrastructure, safety, and regional mobility policies.
