Bicol police seize PHP 4.54 million in illegal fishing evidence

The Police Regional Office in Bicol (PRO-5) reported the seizure of PHP 4.54 million worth of evidence during anti-illegal fishing operations conducted between August 17 and August 23, 2026.

Across 16 operations, authorities arrested 53 individuals. The Masbate Police Provincial Office recorded the highest value of confiscated items at PHP 3.8 million. Other significant seizures were made by the Camarines Sur, Catanduanes, Sorsogon, and Camarines Norte provincial offices.

Brig. Gen. Erosito Miranda stated that these enforcement efforts aim to protect marine ecosystems and the livelihoods of legal fishermen. He emphasized the importance of proactive policing in coastal areas to ensure the protection of aquatic resources.
