Bidadi Township Project sparks BJP-JDS political tension
Political tensions are rising within the NDA alliance in Karnataka over the proposed Bidadi Township Project. BJP State President B. Y. Vijayendra has reportedly distanced himself from a JDS-led padayatra (foot march) organized to protest the project. This follows earlier friction after Vijayendra had independently announced a similar protest, prompting the JDS to schedule its own march.
JDS leaders have expressed dissatisfaction, suggesting that the BJP's lack of coordination and Vijayendra's absence from recent coordination meetings could strain the alliance.
In response to the protests, Minister Yatindra Siddaramaiah has accused both the BJP and JDS of engaging in political maneuvering and misleading farmers. He emphasized that Chief Minister D. K. Shivakumar has already clarified that land will not be forcibly acquired for the Bidadi project, stating that the decision to provide land remains with the farmers.
