Biddeford community rallies to support family of ICE shooting victim

A U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agent shot and killed 26‑year‑old Colombian delivery driver Johan Sebastián Durán Guerrero in Biddeford, Maine, on Monday. Federal officials said Guerrero was not the intended target of the arrest warrant being executed.

Local musicians organized a benefit concert titled “We Cry Out” at Sacred Profane Brewery on July 30, with a pay‑what‑you‑can ticket model. Proceeds will go to the family’s GoFundMe page and to Project Relief ME’s Support Families Impacted by ICE Fund. Maine businesses such as Biddobanh, Brass & Briar, Elements, and others pledged portions of their sales, and community members are raffling artwork and donating to immigrant‑rights groups. The fundraising effort had already raised over $490,000 by Thursday.

The incident has heightened fear among immigrant communities in Maine, prompting statements of solidarity from local chambers of commerce and a broader call to recognize immigrants as essential members of the region’s workforce and culture.
