Óbidos launches 2.2 million euro tender for new GNR headquarters

The Óbidos City Council has launched a new public tender for the construction of a new Guarda Nacional Republicana (GNR) headquarters, valued at approximately 2.2 million euros. This marks the second attempt to hold the tender after a previous process in 2024 failed because all submitted bids exceeded the base price.

The budget increase follows authorization from the Ministry of Internal Administration. Initially proposed at 1.6 million euros, the funding was revised upward after no contractors agreed to the lower amount. The project has been a long-standing demand in the region, with cooperation agreements dating back to 2019.
