Biedronka extends deposit system voucher validity to 120 days
Starting September 21, 2026, the retail chain Biedronka is extending the validity of deposit system vouchers from 30 days to 120 days. This change aims to provide customers with greater flexibility when using funds obtained from returning recyclable packaging, such as plastic bottles and metal cans.
Biedronka reported that since the implementation of the deposit system, customers have returned over 1.5 billion items at its locations. On average, a single voucher covers 24 items with a value of approximately 12 PLN. The company noted that the decision follows practical experience gained during the initial rollout of the nationwide system.
This move precedes similar adjustments by other retailers; Lidl has announced it will extend its voucher validity to 100 days starting in October. While the Ministry of Climate and Environment is working on nationwide standardization, Biedronka's new 120-day term currently offers one of the longest validity periods among retailers with fixed expiration dates.
