Biedronka implements large-scale solar project across 2,300 stores

Biedronka is implementing one of Europe’s largest rooftop photovoltaic projects in collaboration with GreenYellow. More than 2,300 stores have been equipped with solar installations totaling 117 MWp in capacity.

These installations generate approximately 113 GWh of energy annually, an amount sufficient to meet the needs of over 61,700 Polish households. In 2025, the solar installations resulted in 57.6 million PLN in savings. The energy produced is primarily used directly within the stores to power refrigeration units and technical systems.

In addition to solar power, the retailer is utilizing a Building Management System (BMS) across nearly 2,500 locations. This digital solution optimizes the consumption of ventilation, lighting, and other equipment. Despite the opening of 181 new stores, the network's total energy consumption has remained relatively stable compared to 2024 levels.
