Biedronka in Kudowa‑Zdrój reopens after renovation, expands product range

The Biedronka discount supermarket in the Polish border town of Kudowa‑Zdrój reopened on 30 July after a reconstruction that began on 21 June. The refreshed store features new refrigeration units, reorganised aisles and a wider selection of goods, including fresh meat, dairy, fruit and vegetables, as well as seasonal non‑food items.

The outlet is a popular shopping destination for Czech residents living near the border, who regularly travel to Poland for lower‑priced groceries. Biedronka, founded in 1995 and part of the Portuguese group Jerónimo Martins, now operates nearly 4,000 stores across more than 1,300 Polish towns and serves about five million customers daily. The reopening underscores the chain’s role as one of Poland’s largest retailers and employers, and highlights cross‑border consumer patterns in the region.
