Biedronka opens Biedronka LAB R&D center in Warsaw
Biedronka, in collaboration with Jeronimo Martins Polska, has officially opened Biedronka LAB, an innovative research and development center located on the Warsaw University of Life Sciences (SGGW) campus. The facility is designed to bridge the gap between academic research and industrial application by integrating university resources with the retailer's logistical and manufacturing capabilities.
The center focuses on accelerating New Product Development (NPD) by using consumer data to drive technological parameters. This model aims to minimize business and technological risks by ensuring that laboratory formulations can be successfully scaled for mass production across the retailer's network of nearly 4,000 stores.
Initial products developed at the lab, such as Vitanella Veggie Granola, are already being introduced to store shelves. The facility serves as a hub to transform consumer needs into commercialized food products through a streamlined process of concept creation, testing, and industrial implementation.
