Biedronka products resold on bazaars spark consumer fraud warnings

Vendors at outdoor markets in Norway and Poland have been selling produce that originates from the Polish discount chain Biedronka as if it were locally grown. One seller offered cherry tomatoes at 25 zł per kilogram, matching a Biedronka promotion of 11.98 zł per kilogram, while another packed jagody berries in containers labeled as one‑liter jars that actually held only 0.8 litre. Authorities note that misrepresenting the origin or volume of food can breach Polish law, with fines up to 5,000 zł for minor cases and possible prison terms of six months to eight years for larger operations. Police also warn of online scams involving bulk berry orders that never arrive. Consumers are advised to verify packaging, check declared volumes, and ask sellers about the source of the produce to avoid being misled.
