Vieste wedding accident leaves father critical after fall during son's rescue

A serious accident occurred during a wedding reception at a hotel in Vieste, Italy, involving a father and his 10-year-old son. According to initial reports, the child fell approximately four to five meters from a small terrace while playing with peers.

In an attempt to rescue his son, the father, a 40-year-old man from Peschici, also fell. Both were transported via helicopter to the Casa Sollievo della Sofferenza hospital in San Giovanni Rotondo. The child sustained a leg fracture but is reported to be in stable condition. The father remains in critical condition under reserved prognosis following surgery.

Carabinieri have seized the area of the incident, and the Prosecutor's Office of Foggia is leading an investigation to determine the exact dynamics of the fall and whether a structural failure of the terrace or covering contributed to the accident.
