Bielsko-Biała Police Get 3D Laser Scanner to Speed Up Accident and Crime Scene Docs

The municipal police in Bielsko-Biała received a 3‑dimensional laser scanner on 29 July, presented by city mayor Jarosław Klimaszewski to Police Commander Roman Fitrzyk and deputy Jack Śliwka. The equipment was purchased with funds from the Bielsko-Biała City Hall.

The scanner creates highly accurate digital 3‑D models of accident sites, disaster scenes and crime locations in a few minutes, a process that previously required several hours of manual documentation. According to Dariusz Szydłowski, head of the police’s criminal‑technical department, the device can operate in temperatures from –20 °C to 55 °C and withstand dust and moisture, allowing repeated analysis of the data without returning to the scene. The city expects the technology to improve evidence collection, accelerate investigations, and reduce road‑closure times after serious traffic incidents.
