Bielsko‑Biała introduces six EU‑funded hydrogen buses

Six zero‑emission hydrogen buses built by Solaris – four 12‑metre MAXI models and two 18‑metre articulated MEGA units – were presented on 30 July 2026 at the Miejskiego Zakładu Komunikacyjnego depot in Bielsko‑Biała. The vehicles feature climate control, USB chargers, passenger‑information displays, monitoring and safety‑assist systems, can travel about 350 km on a single refuel and are topped up in minutes.

The fleet, costing 21.68 million zł, is financed largely by European Union funds, with roughly 18.5 million zł provided under the “Fundusze Europejskie for Sustainable Mobility” programme. The buses will enter regular service on 1 August 2026, replacing six diesel buses. The launch ceremony was attended by Silesian Voivodeship governor Marek Wójcik, regional councilor Rafał Ryplewicz, Bielsko‑Biała mayor Jarosław Klimaszewski and representatives of Solaris and Orlen.
