Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry to refund overcharged patients

The Ministry of Health has discovered that nearly 1,300 inpatient service patients at the Bien Hoa Central Institute of Forensic Psychiatry were overcharged for medication. The discrepancies occurred between January 1, 2016, and December 31, 2021.

According to an investigation into anti-corruption and financial management, the total amount overcharged reached 845 million VND. Individual overcharges varied significantly, ranging from just over 1,000 VND to as much as 12 million VND per patient.

The Institute has announced it is proceeding with refunds for the excess costs. Patients or their relatives can claim the funds at the Institute’s Finance and Accounting Department. If the funds are not claimed by November 30, 2026, the Institute will handle the remaining balance in accordance with current financial laws.
