Bienal de Flamenco features David Peña Dorantes and Sara Baras in Seville
The XXIV Bienal de Flamenco in Seville features significant performances by prominent artists. Pianist David Peña Dorantes headlined the reopening of the Teatro Lope de Vega following a two-year closure for renovations. His performance, titled ‘Fractal arcano’, is a seven-movement suite consisting of original compositions that draw from classical flamenco styles, including soleares, tanguillos, farruca, garrotín, rondeña, bulerías, and seguiriya.
In another major event, dancer Sara Baras returned to the Bienal after 14 years with her show ‘Infinita’. Performing at the Teatro de la Maestranza to a sold-out crowd, Baras presented a tribute to Andalusia. The production, which she directed and choreographed, serves as a journey through the musical identities of the eight Andalusian provinces, featuring styles such as fandangos, alegrías, and sevillanas.
