Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla features major performances and tributes

The XXIV Bienal de Flamenco de Sevilla is underway, featuring a diverse range of performances and artistic tributes. At the Teatro de la Maestranza, dancer Sara Baras made her return to Seville after 14 years with the premiere of her work ‘Infinita’.

In the San Luis de los Franceses monumental complex, singer Pedro El Granaíno is performing ‘Pan de oro’ alongside clavicinst Daniel Oyarzábal. This event utilizes the baroque architecture of the church to complement the traditional ‘cante jondo’ style.

Cultural programming also includes the ‘Flamenquería’ exhibition at the Hotel Colón Gran Meliá. Created by artist Miguel Verdejo, the charcoal portrait collection honors legendary flamenco figures such as Camarón de la Isla and Paco de Lucía, serving as a tribute to the late producer Ricardo Pachón.

Additionally, this edition of the Bienal explores evolving gender dynamics in flamenco dance, showcasing how various generations of male dancers are challenging traditional codes of masculinity through their performances.
