Bienal Fronteriza 2026 explores border migration through art

The eighth edition of the Bienal Fronteriza 2026 has launched, featuring works that explore the contradictions of the Juárez-El Paso border region and current migratory flows. The exhibition is split between the Museo de Arte de Ciudad Juárez and the Museo de Arte de El Paso.

Participating artists include Andrés Juárez Troncoso, whose work uses spinach to contrast the ease of exporting goods with the difficulty of human migration, and Luis Raúl Luján Rodríguez, who uses children's games to reflect on the experiences of youth in migration centers. Curators Alejandro Morales and Adriana Miramontes Olivas selected 31 artists from nearly 200 applications, focusing on those working within a 300-mile radius of the border.
