Biene Maja celebrates 50 years of television history
The classic anime series ‘Die Biene Maja’ (Maya the Bee) is celebrating its 50th anniversary. The series, a co-production between Germany, Austria, and Japan, first premiered in Japan on TV Asahi in April 1975, before making its German television debut on ZDF on September 9, 1976.
The series follows the adventures of Maya and her companion Willi across approximately 100 episodes. Notable voice work includes the late Eberhard Storeck, who provided the voice for Willi. The production, which ran from 1975 to 1980, remains a significant piece of children's television history.
