Biennale dello Stretto concludes with focus on landscape and urban regeneration

The third edition of ‘La Biennale dello Stretto’ has concluded, focusing on the theme of ‘Mutations’ to re-examine the Mediterranean landscape. Promoted by Alfonso Femia, Annalisa Metta, and Salima Naji, the event served as an international observatory for rethinking historical sites and community relations.

A central role was played by the Order of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects, and Conservators of the province of Messina. Discussions held in Messina addressed urban transformations, student housing, and territorial regeneration.

The event also featured a roundtable titled ‘Cyclone Harry, from catastrophe to opportunity,’ which analyzed the impact of extreme weather events. Experts discussed shifting from emergency responses to structured planning, specifically regarding coastal protection, hydraulic regulation, and slope consolidation.
