Biennale dello Stretto explores territorial mutations in Badolato

The third edition of the Biennale dello Stretto is exploring the theme of ‘Mutazioni’ (Mutations), focusing on the relationship between art, culture, nature, and architecture within Southern Italian territories. The event serves as a laboratory for ideas regarding urban and territorial development, specifically examining how rapid transformations impact human rights and the ability to preserve collective memory.

A key stop for the Biennale takes place in Badolato on October 10 and 11. Curated by architect Pasquale Piroso, the section titled ‘Tra Terra e Forma. Mutazioni Lente’ (Between Earth and Form. Slow Mutations) connects the RespiraTerra art garden in Badolato Marina with the historic village. The program includes installations, performances, and discussions regarding the transformation of rural landscapes and the balance between conservation and change.

The event in Badolato also marks the 40th anniversary of the ‘Badolato, paese in vendita’ slogan, which highlighted the village's depopulation in the 1980s. This milestone provides an opportunity to reflect on social and demographic crises and the processes of local regeneration. The Biennale's installations and projects will remain on display in the Forte rooms until December 13.
