Bieszczady Mountains: Mother leaves two young sons alone on hiking trail

A mother left her two sons, aged 8 and 14, alone on a hiking trail in the Bieszczady Mountains in southern Poland on Saturday. According to reports from the Rzeszów branch of the Polish Tourist and Cultural Society (PTTK), the woman abandoned the children because they were complaining and did not want to continue walking.

The children were discovered by a group of hikers near the intersection of the blue and yellow trails above Muczne. The boys were found in a state of distress amidst thick fog and poor weather conditions. The mother had reportedly told the children to wait 15 minutes if they wished to stop, but they remained alone for a significantly longer period while she continued toward the summit, which was approximately an hour's walk away.

When the mother eventually reappeared, hikers reported that she showed little remorse, stating she only left them briefly to reach her goal. The incident has been reported to local authorities and has sparked significant public outcry in Poland regarding parental responsibility and mountain safety.
