Big 12 Secures Full Participation in College Sports Commission NIL Agreement

The Big 12 conference announced that all of its member schools have signed participation agreements with the College Sports Commission (CSC), making it the first Power Four conference to achieve unanimous agreement. The agreement obliges schools to waive the right to sue the CSC and grants the agency broad authority to sanction programs that violate rules governing name, image, and likeness (NIL) payments established after last year’s House settlement. It also outlines a salary‑cap framework and the CSC’s role in reviewing third‑party NIL deals through its NIL Go platform.

Commissioner Brett Yormark said the league wants clear rules and enforcement, describing the signing as a sign of leadership. Kansas State President Richard Linton noted the board’s unanimous vote. CSC CEO Bryan Seeley reported that the commission has cleared more than 26,000 NIL deals valued at about $242 million to date. The Big 12 expects all 68 Power Four schools to sign the 11‑page document for it to become fully effective, positioning the conference at the forefront of NIL regulation in college athletics.
