Big Brother Verão contestants penalized after rule breach

On Tuesday, 28 July, contestants Afonso and Mariana Sá broke a house rule on the Portuguese reality show Big Brother Verão. After a group dynamic ended, they continued to write on their slates and failed to hand them in on time. The show's voice announced a financial penalty, stating, “Eu sou o Big Brother. 251 euros acabam de ser retirados do vosso prémio final,” and €251 was deducted from the final prize pool.

Later the same day, supporters of fellow contestant Boris posted a clarification on Instagram after a controversial airplane message appeared. The supporters wrote, “Temos recebido várias mensagens e queremos deixar este assunto bem esclarecido: o avião que passou não foi da nossa parte,” emphasizing that neither Boris, his family, nor his team were involved. The incident added tension to the season, which airs on TVI.
