Georgetown Tops BIG EAST Women's Soccer Preseason Poll

The Georgetown University women's soccer team was selected as the preseason favorite in the BIG EAST Conference, receiving eight first‑place votes and 98 points. UConn placed second with 89 points, Xavier third with 78, and Creighton fourth with 73. The poll also listed Villanova, Providence, Marquette, Butler, St. John’s, DePaul and Seton Hall in the remaining positions.

Individual honors include senior defender Kaya Hanson of Georgetown, named BIG EAST Preseason Defensive Player of the Year, and junior midfielder Lizzie Heller, also of Georgetown, named Preseason Midfielder of the Year. Junior forward Jocelyn Leigh of Marquette earned a spot on the Preseason All‑BIG EAST Team, while Butler junior Chloe Brecht was selected as the university’s representative on the same team.

The preseason awards and poll were announced by the conference on August 3, setting the stage for the 2026 women's soccer season.
