Big Five personality research identifies unusual trait combinations

Research into the Big Five personality model—which measures Openness, Conscientiousness, Extraversion, Agreeableness, and Neuroticism—has identified a small group of individuals with highly unusual trait combinations. A study conducted by researchers at the University of Tartu and the University of Warwick found that fewer than 10% of people possess personality profiles that do not fit standard psychological maps. These individuals, colloquially termed ‘mutants’ by researchers, exhibit trait combinations that deviate from the typical correlations found in the general population.

While most personality traits tend to cluster logically—such as high motivation often correlating with self-discipline—these outliers present unique profiles. Such data can be utilized through AI tools to create specific professional profiles, such as determining how an individual's personality might influence their suitability for certain creative roles like photography.
